Does the Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro Work With the X1E? What Official Pages Say

Published August 25, 2026

Researched guide

Bambu Lab’s main AMS 2 Pro connection guides explicitly list the H2 series, X2D, P2S, A1 series, and X1/P1 series, but do not list dedicated setup or firmware instructions for the enterprise X1E. While the X1E shares physical rear ports with the X1 series, enterprise firmware updates follow a separate schedule—verify your X1E firmware version with Bambu support before buying. How this guide was made

In our complete AMS 2 Pro guide, we noted that official Bambu Lab pages leave out explicit rules for the X1E. Because X1E owners often run offline or enterprise-managed printers, here is a strict breakdown of what Bambu Lab’s documentation actually lists—and what remains unconfirmed—as of October 25, 2026.

Which printers Bambu Lab explicitly lists vs. omits

Why the X1E is a special case

  1. Firmware dependency: The AMS 2 Pro requires printer firmware support both to initialize its communication protocol over the new 6-pin bus cable and to display the AMS Drying menu on the touchscreen.
  2. Offline / Enterprise release cycle: The X1E uses a separate firmware branch from the consumer X1C (because of its heated chamber, WPA2-Enterprise Wi-Fi, Ethernet port, and offline-mode controls). Features added to the X1C in April 2025 do not automatically appear on the X1E on the same date.
  3. High-temperature filament overlap: Many X1E owners print engineering filaments like PPA-CF, PPS, PC, PA, and ASA that require drying temperatures above 65 °C. Even when connected, the AMS 2 Pro tops out at 65 °C—Bambu Lab recommends the AMS HT (which uses its own built-in main power cord) for higher-temperature engineering materials.

What to check before ordering an AMS 2 Pro for an X1E

  • Check the Firmware Release Notes for your exact X1E firmware version to confirm whether AMS 2 Pro and AMS Drying support has been merged into the X1E branch.
  • Remember that like all X1-series chassis machines, the X1E cannot supply drying power over the bus cable—any supported setup requires the 24V 4A Switching Adapter plus a filament buffer or AMS Hub.
